Whenever we go to a hairstylist, we generally rely upon their opinion about what looks good on us. Through my numerous experiments I have learnt some basic stuff about choosing the hairstyle which will do justice to my face. The only thing that can help you in choosing the right hairstyle is to choose it according to your face shape!!!

DIAMOND SHAPE:-

SHAPE DEFINES:
Diamond shape face is widest in the middle and narrows at the forehead and chin. Means you have a diamond face if you are widest at your cheekbones, and your jaw line and forehead are the same length (but still narrower than your cheeks).
BEST:
  • The main goal of diamond shape face is to create a more balanced look for the face by making the forehead and chin appear a bit broader while narrowing out the middle of the face.
  • The best way to do this is to wear your long layers down but smooth against your cheeks to diminish the width of the face. At the same time, you should put a heavy emphasis on what you do with your bangs – a side sweep with a lot of volume will give you more width here and balance out the face. If you have chin-length to shoulder-length hair then you can also curl the bottom of your hair out or under in order to give more width to the area near your chain.
  • A diamond face is quite close to oval shape. The only thing is to reduce the angularity. You have to go soft and rounded with the hair and avoid stark layers.
 WORST:
  • You can do about everything, but try not to wear too much hair on your face, thereby hiding your great feature.

PEAR SHAPE:-

SHAPE DEFINES:
Pear face shape can be also known as inverted heart face shape. The pear shaped face has a great width jaw-line and narrowing upwards. Thus this face shaped is normally narrow at the forehead that flares out width from the cheeks and widest at the jaw-line.
BEST:
  • Expose your forehead. Not only does this draw attention upward and away from a full jaw line, it also looks exceptionally flattering. Try pushing the hair back with a stylish band or use a clip to hold bangs that are growing out in place.
  • Tuck your hair behind your ears. If your hair is on the longer side, tuck one side behind your ear to slim and elongate the cheekbones. Ideally, individuals with pear-shaped faces should avoid hair longer than the neckline (it accentuates the jaw’s width).
  • Layers create fullness on the upper half of the face and help to accentuate those features that are otherwise drowned out by a prominent jaw line.
WORST:
  • Avoid short crops hairstyle and hair tied back in a ponytail. Avoid hair that is all one length
  • Avoid excessive waves/curls. These tend to widen the chin and jaw lines.
  • Avoid parting hair in the center.

 OVAL SHAPE:-

SHAPE DEFINES:
An oval shaped face is wide near the temples narrowing down towards the chin.
BEST:
  • As it is a perfect shape so you can choose practically any style you fancy.
WORST:
  • You should avoid Short hair style, or Wavy hair style.

ovalHEART SHAPE:-

SHAPE DEFINES:
A heart shaped face has a wide forehead and narrow chin.
BEST:
  • It looks super with a shaggy hairstyle with lots of volume. Heart shape faces should wear hairstyles that are either chin length or long hairstyles. Heart shaped face can be balance out the face with long, side swept bangs which draw attention down and towards the eyes.
  • The heart shaped face is wider at the top and narrow in the bottom. Keeps the hair flowing around your face till the jaw line. This gives a narrow forehead and a dainty chin. Thus, makes it a perfect oval shape. Then, below the jaw line, it really doesn’t matter. That’s why a bob is perfect for the heart face.
WORST:
  • Short wavy hairstyle should be avoided.

SQUARE SHAPE:-

SHAPE DEFINES:
A square face has strong angular lines and it is as long as it is wide.
BEST:
  • Square Face shape needs short or medium hairstyles.
  • Curly and wavy styles will give some roundness to face.Layers will often soften your face and height at crown will make your face longer.
  • You definitely need height on top and should try to keep sides narrow. Keep your forehead free to make your face look longer.
  • Fullness at the temples and cheekbones will make the face look rounder. Try to cover the jaw line.
  • Got to keep your hair long and flowing!!! It can be straight, wavy or curly. The flowing hair keeps the focus away from your jaw line which is the widest part of your face. If you have short hair, keep it curly and rounded. You can go dramatic with the bangs as this will keep the focus at the top of your head.
WORST:
  • Avoid very short hairstyle as they appear harsh.

square

 LONG AND THIN FACE:

Shape Define:
A long and thin face.
BEST:
  • Choose a style with softness and plenty of width. A bob cut is the perfect choice. Chin-length bobs and cuts are ideal for you because they create the illusion of width.
  • If you have straight hair, you can create more width with bangs. Bangs make your face appear shorter because they cover up a particularly large forehead. You can wear anything from blunt bangs to long, side-swept bangs.
WORST:
  • You should not be accentuated by wearing hair hanging straight. Stay away from extremely long or short cuts. These elongate your face.

long

 ROUND FACE:

Shape Define:
A round shaped face is almost as wide as it is long; face is widest at the cheeks.
BEST:
  • As it is a perfect shape so you can carry any hair style perfectly.
  • But straight long hair suits best.
WORST:
  •  You should avoid Short hair style, or Wavy hair style.

Everybody makes mistakes! I look back at some old pictures of myself and I cringe so badly. Even celebrities are often photographed on the red carpet with makeup mishaps. It happens to everybody, So here are some common mistake you should avoid.

makeup mistake

1. Not Using Primer-  Eye primer and face primer not only make your makeup last longer, but they provide a smooth, receptive canvas for other products. You can use less foundation and get a better coverage. And they prevent color migration.

not using primer

2. Concealer before Foundation-  Start with your foundation and spread it evenly. It gives some coverage and evens out things. Then add just enough concealer and blend it into your foundation. The result is more natural looking and far less likely to look caked.

3. Too Dark Foundation-  Next time you’re at your favorite counter ask for a sample of a foundation that’s one shade lighter than what you’re wearing. Test it under normal conditions. Chances are you’re not as dark as you thought.

dark foundation

4. Unprepared skin before Foundation-  Moisturized skin is the best base for foundation. Foundation will only emphasize dry skin. The smoother your skin, the smoother the makeup application. If your skin is naturally dry, go for a foundation with a hydrating formula and stay away from powder and matte foundations.

unprepared skin

5. Using an under eye concealer that’s too light-  Using a concealer that’s too light will only make the under eye area appear ashy. It doesn’t cover up the dark circles at all. A good concealer goes a long way. Under eye concealer would be light weight.

6. Too much powder-  Go easy with the powder. You rather gradually built it up than apply too much at a time. The most natural way to apply powder is to apply it in an A-Shape (from forehead down the sides of the nose into the jaw line and above the lip area). It eliminates shine but keeps the skin looking fresh and dewy.

7. Over illuminating the Skin-  They’re fantastic for giving the skin the illusion of glows radiant skin but go easy on it or you will look like a human grease ball. For subtle highlighting, concentrate the highlight on the outer Cs of your eyes (temples and cheekbones) and it will go a long way to give you a healthy beautiful glow. Avoid anything too shimmers (has chunky glitter). If your skin is warm toned or tan, use a gold undertone illuminator.

8. Harsh Eyeliner -  I’m not sure why I used to do this but I used to wear heavy black eyeliner rimmed around my eyes for everyday. The harsh black just totally swallowed up my eyes making them appear smaller. Brown is much softer on the lower lash line and looks ‘friendlier’.

9. Lipstick on teeth-  Avoid getting lipstick on your teeth by doing the Finger trick after your lip color application. Place your index finger between your lips (as if you’re sucking on a Popsicle) and drag your finger out. This removes the excess lipstick / lip-gloss.

10. Lipstick on dry chapped lips-  If your lips are dry, do NOT wear lipstick because it will only emphasize the dryness. Exfoliate chapped lips with a toothbrush to remove the dead skin and apply lip balm to soothe the lips. Once your lips are prepped, go for a tinted lip balm or a lipstick with a hydrating formula.
